For today we are discussing why it is important to interview a listing agent selecting them to help you find the right home to buy. In our current housing market in Southern California many homeowners are taking advantage of lower home prices, sometimes thanks to short sales, and moving to a new property or purchasing an investment property. Making the decision to purchase a new property has a lot of important steps which require someone with a proven track record that you can trust. And don’t forget about making sure the property itself checks out. This means your listing agent should be reviewing to make sure there are no liens against the property or any major damage that has been reported over the last five to ten years. Far too often I have buyer clients that get very attached to a short sale property from the get go. It is important to not get ahead of yourself especially if the listing agent still needs to be pre-qualified. If for some reason your agent does not believe you can make it through the short sale with this specific listing agent it may be best to simply walk away.
